Rescue Me ID: 18-06-02-00336HERO (male)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Deaf

SAY HELLO TO HERO! Hero is a beautiful and cuddly 3 year old Heeler / Husky mix boy. Weighing in at 52 pounds, Hero is a very special dog. He was found as a stray and has probably been deaf and blind since birth. Hero has a condition called Microopthalmia which just means his eyes did not develop properly. He is just so incredibly smart that in a familiar environment, you would never believe he is blind! He has a great nose and literally smells you where ever you are going. He is learning the leash and harness as he follows you everywhere, so his former owner never saw a need to teach him about a leash we think. He is a great ... (Read More)companion and his disability is not a burden in any way. He is as functional as any dog in almost every way! Hero is both house and crated trained and will let you know if he needs to go out. He is very respectful to all he meets when he is on his leash taking in all the new scents. He is a gentleman in the car and is not at all barky. Hero would make a wonderful family. He like adults and kids alike, all the dogs that he meets both outside and in his foster home. No one is a stranger to our beautiful Hero! He is not food aggressive and will make himself comfortable with you at the foot of the bed. This gentle and kind soul will be such a wonderful and special family member. Hero is a medium coated breed, so he will need regular brushing and baths as needed as well as professional grooming and nail trims every 12 to 14 weeks. Hero's adoption fee is $ 225.00 This fee includes his Veterinarian Wellness checks while here at the rescue, his neuter, all vaccinations including rabies and bordatella, de-worming, microchip with lifetime membership and professional grooming. Rescue Me ID: 18-01-15-00443Little Anne (female)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

HI, my name is 'Little Anne' because I remind my foster Mom and sister of the hunting dogs they read about in the book Where the Red Fern Grows. I am about 1 %BD years young. One day I was left on the street and a nice lady brought me in to her apartment. She wanted to keep me but I don't always know how to play nice with little dogs yet, and she had 2. She gave me a really nice fluffy blanket to sleep on and a matching harness, leash and collar so I gave her lots of hugs and kisses. She called the people listed on my 'chip' and they said they didn't want me L so I got sad. I think that is why I bark at some people and dogs or maybe ... (Read More)my first owners forgot to take me to school with the other dogs and people so that I could get used to being around them. I am getting lots of practice meeting new people and dogs at my foster home and I am getting much better. I am really smart and make my whole family laugh when I give high fives and roll around asking for belly rubs. I have a REALLY good nose and I smell everything. I heard my foster mom say that I would be really happy if I could live in a house with a big backyard or maybe even a farm where I can run and hunt. I might be ok with living in a smaller house but I definitely would need to get out and run each day or I might complain or forget my manners. I am really good at going to the bathroom outside and go in my kennel when they ask me to. I might need a family that has owned dogs before or has experience with dogs like me since I like to hunt and catch small animals (including cats). I get so excited to meet new people that sometimes I bark and sound angry but really I just want to make sure you won't hurt me or my family! My dream job would be 'hunting companion' or 'search and rescue'. I am really smart and willing to learn so I am open to other jobs as well. If you think we would be a good match, please call One by One Animal Rescue to set up a time to meet. I can't wait to meet you! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Bluetick Coonhound in Arizona
Bluetick Coonhound Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. Bluetick Coonhounds are friendly, intelligent dogs bred in the Southern United States. Blueticks are wonderful hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell. Bluetick Coonhounds normally make very good family pets, but can be difficult to train. Blueticks need a large fenced in yard. They will wander off easily to follow a scent if they are not kept on a leash. This hunting dog is not a good choice for households with small non-canine pets.
