Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, My name is Jaymo. I am a 9 month old purebred bluetick hound. I weigh about 55lbs and maybe gain a few more. I am VERY friendly and LOVE people. I am a high energy pup who would make a great hiking or running partner. I am SUPER happy all the time and would do well in a home with kids. I do well with other dogs and would do best in a home with an active family member. I am a hound dog and would most likely do better in a home without cats, although I have not been tested. I am neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations, and my adoption fee is $250, which comes with a two-week trial period. I am available for pick up on 7/1/17. If ... Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

you have any questions about fostering or adopting Alexa please contact 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue and Boarding directly at and adopt@4p4l.org. Foster family says: When I first opened the gate she walked to the back with a tucked tail and low growl. I offered her some hot dogs and she came and ate them from my hand. After giving her a few hot dogs I started to pet her chin and then was able to pet her head, neck and shoulders. She leaned into my hand to seek affection. I leashed her with no problem and continued to pet her until she took a few steps towards me. I then picked her up (with no issues) and carried her outside where another dog was ... (Read More)being walked. I put her down next to the other dog and she immediately started wagging her tail (I hadn't seen a tail wag before then) and following the other dog. The other dog sniffed her and she continued to have a wiggly tail. She is just very young and scared at the shelter. Once outside, her body language became more relaxed. Blueticks are wonderful hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell. Bluetick Coonhounds normally make very good family pets, but can be difficult to train. Blueticks need a large fenced in yard. They will wander off easily to follow a scent if they are not kept on a leash. This hunting dog is not a good choice for households with small non-canine pets.
