Rescue Me ID: 17-11-01-00399Henry Jenkins (male)

Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Henry's family moved a few years ago and no longer have a fenced yard for him to run and play. Time for long walks is now limited and Henry would be happier with an owner that can give him the attention and energy he deserves. He did well with obedience training and could walk off-leash with a shock-collar and assertive person. He LOVES to run and is true to his breed- he will follow scents and explore if off-leash. He is good with the children and other pets in his family, but should be introduced to new animals and people cautiously initially. He was born 9/2006 and is currently 11 years old.

Animal ID: 2951Jazz (female)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

his beautiful golden eyed girl just might be YOUR girl! Check out her adoption video here. Jazz weighs about 55 lbs. and is 4-years young! She appears to be a Coonhound-German Shepherd Mix with a little white patch on her chest. This sweet girl loves to have her back and belly scratched. She likes to lounge outside and take in the scenery. Jazz likes to go on walks/runs with you and her foster says she'd be a great hiking dog! Jazz does best with a little room to romp and play. She loves to show off her tricks for a reward (of course) and tends to guard yummy prizes. So, she could use a few positive training techniques for this. A home ... (Read More)with structure, consistent training as well as focused socialization, to help her become a well-adjusted family member would be her ideal home. At her foster home, she loves to play with their resident dogs -- a Hound Mix and a Beagle, but slow introduction would be needed when introducing new 4-legged friends. Jazz would love a firm leader who has experience and patience to continue her doggie skills. She would thrive in a home without cats as she does give a good chase and would do best in a home with a submissive dog and or older respectful kids. Her foster family says Jazz has displayed the following while in their care: - very easy going, likes to take naps and hang out with people - basic commands (sit, lay, shake, come, and stay) - crate trained - housebroken - good with the children she has met - has loved people she's met Jazz is up to date with shots, spayed, microchipped and ready to find her furever home! Check out the videos of her playing with her foster brother Joey! (Less)

Bluetick Coonhound Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. Bluetick Coonhounds are friendly, intelligent dogs bred in the Southern United States. Blueticks are wonderful hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell. Bluetick Coonhounds normally make very good family pets, but can be difficult to train. Blueticks need a large fenced in yard. They will wander off easily to follow a scent if they are not kept on a leash. This hunting dog is not a good choice for households with small non-canine pets.
