Rescue Me ID: 17-09-24-00193Huck & Finn (male)

Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Huck and Finn are ready and LOOKING for a forever home! If you are looking for two goofy boys - here they are!! We occasionally find ourselves with a non-Weimaraner in our rescue. That happened last month when we just couldn't say no to this dynamic duo from a shelter we were working with to obtain a Weim from requested help rehoming with this pair. Huck and Finn are 10 month old BlueTick Coonhounds that are currently being fostered in Indiana. They are neutered, current on their heart worm, and all vaccines. Their foster Mom shared an update with us today: 'The boys have a grasp of basic commands- come, sit, lay, off, down, leave it, ... (Read More)quiet. They are 100% if you have treat in-hand, 50-50 without a culinary reward. Leash training nose-to-the-ground hounds is a particular challenge. They will be country dogs for sure! They are keen to entertain themselves with games of chase, a puppy version of mixed martial arts, and love playing with dog toys. At doggie daycare they have become the most popular pups with canines and humans alike. Car rides are always a calm affair with the harness/seat belt system. Huck & Finn have proved themselves to be very child-friendly, affectionate, loyal, sweet, and just goofy puppies. I do not want to miss a window for potential adopters to experience this sweet frolicking puppy stage of life that is fleeting.' We are looking for a more rural home for Huck and Finn where they can follow their noses and share their findings with the world! We would like to see these bonded brothers placed in a home and family together if possible. If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website and download an adoption application. (Less)

Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Due to unforseen circumstances I have to rehome my boy. This is Sky. He also answers to Muppet (nickname because of those floppy ears). He's got a great nose but he isn't trained to hunt so hoping to find him a home that can work with him and get him hunting or just running. He is purebred but no papers. He's only 59lbs and can run like the wind. Of course he has a bawl that can wake the dead. He's good with kids but has no experience with babies or kids under 10. He has grown up with a mixed pack of other dogs and he isn't the alpha so he gets along finding his place with other dogs. He loves to use his nose. He is an indoor dog and ... (Read More)is housebroke and kennel trained. He's good with strangers but takes a few minutes to warm up to them. He really is a good boy. Loves to curl up with his person. He can be a runner because of his nose so a fenced yard would be a plus. He has a lot of other personality traits (nothing harmful or dangerous Just fun facts)that can be discussed when interested . Found out he gets along with chickens, ducks and horses. Would be great on a farm. Thanks for reading. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Bluetick Coonhound in Michigan
Bluetick Coonhound Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Bluetick Coonhounds are friendly, intelligent dogs bred in the Southern United States. Blueticks are wonderful hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell. Bluetick Coonhounds normally make very good family pets, but can be difficult to train. Blueticks need a large fenced in yard. They will wander off easily to follow a scent if they are not kept on a leash. This hunting dog is not a good choice for households with small non-canine pets.
