Rescue Me ID: 15-05-26-00146Bob (male)

Bluetick Coonhound

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Blind

I rescued Bob from the highway back in December 2014. I have not been able to find an owner. I did find out the area he came from and several people have looked for an owner. We have come to the conclusion that he was abandoned. I do not know the status of his vaccinations. I have given him flea and tick meds. I think that Bob is a young dog. But I can't tell for sure. Bob loves people. He gets overly excited when he sees a human, to the extend that he wants to play rough with them. If he was with humans on a regular basis, I have no doubt he would calm down. Therefore, I would not recommend that he have access to children at first. We let ... (Read More)him out to run in the afternoons for exercise and he loves that. Bob is blind in one eye, I do not know what caused the eye to glaze over. Bob would love a place with room to run and just be taken care of. He is not acclimated to being indoors. I do not have the ability to take him to the vet myself, he is too strong for me. I hate keeping dogs outside, and I don't want to keep Bob through another winter. We have a nice pen and house for him with fresh hay regularly. But I just can't keep him any longer. Please consider giving Bob a home where he can run and get attention. Thank you. (Less)

Animal ID: 3663Cooter (male)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

ID #3663 . Male . Cooter Blue Tick Coonhound / Australian Cattle Dog They do not get more entertaining to watch than Cooter. These pictures were taken during our Christmas Event. I had to set him up down at the tree while I snapped a few Santa Claus pictures. It was so funny to watch him entertain himself. He is possible the strongest dog I have ever had on a leach. He is leach trained, but you better be ready to walk. He puts his nose to the ground and off you go. I just love him. Cooter is ready for his very own Forever Home. Due to the large number of furry babies housed at the shelter and more coming in daily, we are only ... (Read More)posting basic information. PIease Read Before Adopting a Bluetick Coonhound in Mississippi
Bluetick Coonhound Dogs can make good pets in Mississippi if they match your IifestyIe. Bluetick Coonhounds are friendly, intelligent dogs bred in the Southern United States. Blueticks are wonderful hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell. Bluetick Coonhounds normally make very good family pets, but can be difficult to train. Blueticks need a large fenced in yard. They will wander off easily to follow a scent if they are not kept on a leash. This hunting dog is not a good choice for households with small non-canine pets.
