We adopted Smokey after our other dog had passed around Christmas time. We're currently expecting our first child in 8 weeks. Our plan was to have 9 months to get Smokey well adapted into our home. I have no major complaints about him, I just have sadly realized a 100lb puppy and a newborn are not the best mix for us at this time. We have tried to avoid this option but I think for the better of our new family, Smokey would be happier with a new family. He is about 100 lbs. He is current on his vaccines and has been neutered. He's such a lover, wants to be around you all the time. We also have an older dog and didn't realize until now that a playful puppy wasn't the best brother for him. Great with other dogs and cats and kids. Walks wonderfully on the leash. He loves to wrestle with other dogs and will groom other cats. Please contact us with any questions or inquiries. (Less)

This handsome American English Coonhound / Harrier mix(he's not a Blue Tick, there was no breed option!) was found wandering in rural NC and rescued by a 'hound angel' who was unable to keep him. Sanford is young, approx. 1-2 years-old, about 52 lbs, and has received his basic vetting. This is a GEM of a hound! Smart, gentle, happy, social, respectful around the house, loves riding in the car, belly rubs and cuddling... There's just so much to love about this boy! Unlike any hound I've rescued, he trained easily! Sanford sits, stays, gives a paw, lies down, etc. on command!! He loves all people and dogs, and is fine with cats. His pretreatment for Heartworm has been started and he'll be neutered next week. Sanford needs a home with a yard to run and other dog(s) to romp with. Can you give this VERY special boy a home? |Rescue Me ID: 15-03-05-00314Patience (female)|
There is no other, any sweeter than this beautiful young lady! Meet 'Patience'. As a young first-time mother, Patience found herself in need of rescue...along came one - she raised her pups up and they were weaned/adopted, about that time the rescue had an orphan litter that needed a nurse mom....Patience happily obliged taking on the orphaned litter, she raised them up to weaning/adoption - and what to you know, another orphan group of puppies needed a nurse mom...Patience to the rescue, she accepted and raised a 3rd straight litter (2nd orphan litter she took on)!!! These pups she raised up, weaned/adopted....only 2 days after that another group of orphans needed a nurse mom, Patience was willing to love these babies too but her body said enough is enough. The final orphan litter is doing well being bottle raised. After giving of herself more than any other regular mom can do - its Patience time to find a family to love her! Patience is a beautiful red-tick hound mix that is about 40 lbs and a petite medium size. She is a bit shy at first but wants to badly to be loved. She wags her tail a lot and when you pet/love on her she is so very still just soaking in the attention. Patience is young herself, between 1-2 years old, she wants to play and enjoys time in the yard. She is great with other dogs and really enjoys a doggie playbuddy/friend! She is fairly housetrained and learned a doggie door to a fenced yard very quickly (this girl is smart). She is also good in a crate (but will only accept applications that crate her minimally). Seeking a home where she can have a doggie friend to play with, prefer a fenced yard and have a loving person/family to call her own and show her how important she is just for who she is! *She is currently in a foster home, once you have an approved application we will set up an appointment for you to meet her* Apply to adopt Patience at: www.mmahrescue.org (Less)

Bluetick Coonhound Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Bluetick Coonhounds are friendly, intelligent dogs bred in the Southern United States. Blueticks are wonderful hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell. Bluetick Coonhounds normally make very good family pets, but can be difficult to train. Blueticks need a large fenced in yard. They will wander off easily to follow a scent if they are not kept on a leash. This hunting dog is not a good choice for households with small non-canine pets.
