Rescue Me ID: 14-11-05-00509Lady (female)

Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lady was rescued by me from our local SPCA. She was picked up as a stray. I believe she is a purebred but can't be sure. She has been evaluated by a vet as having been spayed. She has current shots and is house broken. Lady loves to hunt any fur bearing animal but is afraid of loud noises. I believe she was trained to hunt but when it was discovered that she is gun shy they most likely just turned her loose. She is afraid of thunder storms. She should not be left alone during storms. I live in a populated area where the neighbors complain when she gets loose and 'hunts' all night baying and howling. She will eventually come home which is ... (Read More)unusual for a hound. Lady is good with kids and all adults as well as other dogs. I love her and it's with heavy heart that I must adopt her out. I will not take her back to the shelter because they are putting too many animals down and that's NOT an option with me. I'm located in northwest PA. Please contact me if interested. (Less)

Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you are looking for a dog who: Is medium to large and about as athletic as you can get, Tyson is your pup! He has a short easy-care coat, is energetic and loves to hunt and work outdoors. Tyson is a 3 year old coonhound. He would be best in a hunting home. We do not recommend a home with small children for Tyson.

Rescue Me ID: 14-01-13-00576Griffin (male)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Griffin would do best in a home with older children. We suggest that he be an only dog because he really enjoys the full attention from his family and would prefer not to share them. He has been in play groups and has done well with many of our shelter residents, but he has been less successful in homes he has been placed in with other dogs (he was placed in homes with smaller dogs than he and ones with persistent personalities ). He a smart dog who trains easily.
